About Jill
I describe myself as an integrative shamanic practitioner, animal healer and psychotherapist. I have worked with individuals and animals using my integration of shamanism and psychotherapy for over 15 years, for clients in the UK, the USA, Poland, Lithuania, Germany and Dubia. I have been running shamanic healing practitioner courses, experiential workshops and personal discovery workshops for many years, both in the UK and in Europe. I run a healing group which has attracted people to it from all over the world, including Canada, Lithuania, Kenya, Poland, USA, South Sudan to name a few. I run shamanic groups both in the UK and in Europe.
I originally trained in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy over 25 years ago, and I taught it at postgraduate level for over 15 years. What I found working as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist is that it does not suit all clients. At the same time, I was the liaison person with the Gestalt academy in Scandinavia where I met students studying Gestalt therapy, a very different and fascinating approach, so I went to study Gestalt therapy.
What I found with the two approaches is that CBT made me think; gestalt therapy made me feel. In CBT I understood myself; in gestalt I understood myself in connection with others.
I spent a lot of time working with people who have experienced trauma, where I came across Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which introduced me to working in unusual ways. How does enabling someone’s eye to move enable processing of trauma? I became fascinated with other ways of working with people which were not the traditional psychotherapy approach. I worked with a colleague thinking about how when some people are in a trauma situation and feel they may die they see people who have passed. Also, some people experience the trauma as a ‘life awakening’ to who they could be. From this we designed a life awakening process and published a book titled – Life Awakening the unique, body-mind-spirit soulistic life review programme.
During my gestalt therapy training I became fascinated in body therapy and attended a body symposium in Esalen in California. There I experienced a Reichian session which opened my eyes to energy systems. So, I came home and started to explore shamanism and undertook practitioner training.
The shamanic course was the most experiential and transformational study, it transformed me in a way that no other course or therapy could have done. It was bizarre, exciting, confusing, and opened my eyes to so much more; it transformed long-held beliefs into new ways of being and seeing the world. Shamanism gives a story to the process, a focus to the healing and a more profound way of knowing. And felt like the part of the jigsaw I was missing.
I did question whether what I had learned here in the west made any sense to shamans in other countries, so I visited shamans in Siberia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, to see how they practise.
I continued to develop my practice, considering how I can integrate all my knowledge and experience. I did this through a process of talking to different aspects of myself, until I came to a unifying theory which encapsulates all those aspects. I published the dialogue and the results in a book titled – A Rhythm for Wellbeing, A Therapist Reflect, published by Peter Lang Publishers.
My love of animals took me to animal healing, it is such a special experience connecting to animals and aiding them to heal. I have adapted my way of working to address the healing needs of our furry companions.
My aim is to help people and animals in the best way that they need. And try to do it in a way that people can afford. I love being creative in my approach, understanding you and your soul journey, together thinking how I can help you move forward, to heal and to grow, whether that is through soul retrieval, a shamanic hand dance, EMDR, constellation work or past life healing
Now I live with three basset hounds, Maisey Moo, Misty Star & Alaia Loo, and a miniature dachshund Dobbie Doo, all of which make me laugh every day. Misty especially has been on the healing journey with me, she is such a healer herself.
I loved shamanic healing from the beginning, it had the depth I was missing in energy therapy, it enabled the story of the person to develop, which offered a treatment plan. Since I trained in shamanic healing I have been to Peru, Ecuador and Colombia to spend time with shamans and to connect with plant medicine.
I have written a book based on my experience and how I work, titled a rhythm for wellbeing: A therapist reflects, available early 2024.
I am an accredited practitioner with International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM). My courses are also accredited
What I can offer you
Today I integrates all three approaches, a unified theory which I have called soulistic shamanic psychotherapy, which I use on both humans and animals. I offer individual and group sessions for healing and for teaching. I work both in person and online, depending on your needs.
I have worked with and taught individuals and groups in the UK and further afield, including, the Netherlands, South Sudan, Kenya, Poland, Canada, the USA.
I teach a shamanic practitioner and personal transformation course, for those who want to heal other people or for their own development. I have taught the course in the UK and in Lithuania and given talks which you can find on youtube.
I offer free introductory days for people who wish to know more about how I work, and whether shamanic healing is for them. See the resource page for links and for other free resources.
I offer experiential days, I love working with groups doing experiential days, who knows what will emerge, they are fun, creative, meaningful and poignant, with people working at depth, enabling them to remove shackles and become who they are.
I have a deep love of animals, which is why I was drawn to heal them too, and to hear their stories. I love to hear what they have to say.
I work with many spirit animals in my practice, particularly the polar bear and woolly mammoth. My shamanic name is Night Owl and I look forward to being with you as you go through your healing process

With a humanitarian heart, I have ventured into some of the most volatile and remote corners of the world, from conflict zones to desolate villages, I strived to support vulnerable populations in the hard-to-reach places, spending at least ten years across the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, providing humanitarian support to conflict and disaster struck populations, though amidst the chaos and crises, a deeper calling always resonated – wellness and shamanism.
I trained as a nutritional therapist after attending a military style bootcamp as a fitness instructor and heard a nutritionist talk on functional medicine and nutritional therapy. I was hooked! Since then, I have specialised in gut restoration, sports and exercise nutrition, pathophysiology and lifestyle medicine, detoxification, and food intolerance testing. Having gained a better understanding of how to heal the body through nutrition and lifestyle changes, what else was out there? Shamanism, of course! It was like coming home. I studied both theory and practical for almost two years before venturing to the amazonian rainforest on a quest to heal myself and learn more about the ancient traditions.
My purpose is to now blend these sacred teachings with my passion for holistic health, nutrition, herbalism, and lifestyle medicine, bringing a unique twist to wellness since shamanic practices and nutrition interconnect in various ways, as both focus on holistic well-being and healing. I strongly believe that food is not just physical nourishment but also carries spiritual energy. Therefore, combining plants and rituals to enhance the nutritional value and healing properties of food may aid in raising one’s own energetic vibration, strengthening connection to spirit, as well as healing the physical body. The connection between shamanic practices and nutrition lies in the belief that what we eat can impact not only our physical health but also our spiritual well-being.

I have thirty-five years’ experience in working with those with mental health needs; including ten years practice as an associate therapist with a prestigious Harley Street clinic. My specialism since 2004 has been to offer CBT, EMDR and my mental health nursing skills to those dealing with post-trauma and associated conditions; these conditions include social withdrawal, generalised anxiety, panic attack and depression.
Clients using my services include those who have been subjected to the most difficult of psychological circumstances; for example, those surviving multi-fatality road accidents, serious physical disability following industrial accidents and/or those dealing with the sudden death of a loved one.
I certainly embrace an holistic approach to my practice – for example, I see no contradiction in using mindfulness techniques; or exploring one’s spiritual journey of trauma, that may have shaken their faith or core beliefs – alongside ‘traditional’ therapy methods. I feel I am learning and growing along with my clients… and it is a journey, I believe, without personal ending.
